['vɛjsɛnxɔf], Józef, polnischer Schriftsteller, * Kolano (Podlachien) 8. 4. 1860, ✝ Warschau 6. 7. 1932; entstammte dem Landadel, studierte Jura; war ab 1896 Redakteur bei der »Biblioteka Warszawska« und machte viele Auslandsreisen. Er schildert in den Romanen »Żywota i myśli Zygmunta Podfilipskiego« (1898; deutsch u. a. als »Leben und Gedanken des Herrn Siegmund von Podfilipski«) und »Sprawa Dołęgi« (1901; deutsch »Die Affaire Dołęga«) ironisch bis satirisch Rückständigkeit und Scheinkultur der polnischen Aristokratie; in seinen späteren Romanen zeigt er sich als Meister der Naturschilderung.
 
Weitere Werke: Romane: Syn marnotrawny (1904; deutsch Der verlorene Sohn); Soból i panna (1912; deutsch Der Zobel und die Fee).
